Advanced SQL Server 2008 R2: Building a Secure Database Environment
The three-day 300-400 level Instructor-Led Training course focuses on the various security features available in SQL Server 2008 R2 to help you satisfy your compliance requirements, whether from from HIPAA, PCI DSS, Sarbanes-Oxley Act, or any other industry governing body. Throughout the course students practice applying the security principles with various tools in the SQL Server 2008 R2 environment through a series of labs and demonstrations. Participants learn the various configuration tasks: security granularity, secure communications, database encryption, and methodologies for tracking database activities including auditing. Security best practice methodologies are emphasized and practiced in the labs and demonstrations. The course covers a broad spectrum of features with numerous deep dives into key areas required for building a secure database environment in real-world scenarios. Throughout the course and where appropriate, feature availability in SQL Server versions - Developer, Standard, Enterprise, as well as key feature differences between SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2008\2008R2 will be explained.

Module 3: Controlling access to individual databases
This module explains how to create and then manage database users, assigning them to database roles and otherwise controlling their access, rights, and permissions throughout each distinct database.
Module 4: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Encryption Features
This module explains how to create Certificates and both Assymetric and Symmetric keys and then use them.

This module explains how to enable Transparent Data Encryption.
