Course Content
Upon completion of this course, the student will understand product placement for the Nexus 1000V, with its close relationship to VMWare devices and services. Practical lab exercises augment and reinforce the courseware to provide a unified curriculum. This highly focused, 4-day course provides a detailed understanding of the features and protocols supported by the Nexus 1000V product family and explores new features in VMware® vCenter Server and ESXTM/ESXi, as well as how to upgrade an ESX 3.X environment. The Cisco NexusTM 1000V Series Switches are virtual machine access switches that are an intelligent software switch implementation for VMware vSphere environments. Operating inside the VMware ESX hypervisor, the Cisco Nexus 1000V Series supports Cisco VN-Link server virtualization technology to provide:
- Policy-based virtual machine (VM) connectivity
- Mobile VM security and network policy
- Non-disruptive operational model for your server virtualization, and networking teams

Recommended Completion of VMware Infrastructure 3: Install and Configure, or equivalent experience with VMware ESX and vCenter Server. Course attendees should possess an intermediate knowledge of switching, routing and data center architectures and protocols, as well as an understanding of server virtualization techniques.
