System Center Suite SMSE Bootcamp

The SMSE Bootcamp is a dynamic 3-day training course which brings together the core products from Microsoft's System Center Suite in a series of "Real World", data center management scenarios. The course has been specifically designed for Technical Consultants to give them the skills and understanding they need to successfully implement the System Center Suite for customers and end users.

The course consists of a series of instructor led, hands on labs, which guide the student through the steps required to both successfully configure and use System Center Operations Manager 2007 (OpsMgr), System Center Configuration Manager 2007 (ConfigMgr), System Center Data Protection Manager 2007 (DPM) and System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) in conjunction with core data center applications such as Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 and Exchange Server 2007 running on the Microsoft Hyper-V platform

System Center Suite Overview & Scenario 1: Optimizing Windows Server 200 Management in the Data Center

During this day you will get and overview of the core concepts and features System Center Suite of products and will get an understanding of how they can be used together to help you successfully optimize your data center management.
You will also carry out a series of HOL's which will show you how to effectively manage Windows Server 2008 running on the Microsoft Hyper-V platform with the System Center Suite. This will include setting up monitoring with OpsMgr07 and SCVMM, setting up Desired Configuration Management (DCM) and patch management with ConfigMgr and setting up continuous data protection of the environment with DPM.
This lab has a particular focus on how OpsMgr can be used to monitor the AD, DNS and DHCP environment and shows you how Audit Collection System (ACS) can be utilized for detailed security reporting.

Scenario's 2 & 3: Optimizing SharePoint Server 2007 & Exchange Server 2007 Management in the Data Center

In these two scenarios you will carry out a series of HOL's which will show you how to effectively manage SharePoint Server 2007 and Exchange Server 2007 running on the Microsoft Hyper-V platform with the System Center Suite.
This will include setting up monitoring with OpsMgr07 and SCVMM, setting up Desired Configuration Management (DCM) and patch management with ConfigMgr and setting up continuous data protection of the environment with DPM.

Scenario 4: Disaster Recovery for Exchange Server 2007 and SharePoint Server 2008, Delivering a POC to a customer and Technical Resources overview

In this final scenario you will carry out a series of HOL's which will show you two methods for carrying out a complete disaster recovery of an Exchange Server 2007 platform and SharePoint Server 2007 using DPM and SCVMM.
This will include the recovery of critical data in both SharePoint Server 2007 and Exchange Server 2007 followed by a complete restore of both environments using SCVMM's P2V and DPM's SRT utilities.
We will also look at a new 5 day POC engagement kit for partners that is designed to give you all the materials and scripts you need to carry out a complete Proof Of Concept for a customer around the System Center Suite and finally we will have a look at some of the Microsoft Techincal Resources that are available to you to help you out with any aspect of your experience in implementing and using the System Center Suite in the field.
