Architecture Modeling & Design
This exercise oriented class focuses on designing an application from scratch, taking high level requirements and producing a series of models describing an appropriate solution. It will be modeling oriented, covering how to produce an application design using Use Case diagrams, Component diagrams, Package diagrams, Sequence diagrams, and deployment diagrams.
Audience:
- Developers and Architects with some experience in the IT field.
Objectives:
To give hands-on experience with modeling the core UML diagrams used in creating architectural designs.
Course outline:
Day 1
- Introduction
- Brief intro to architecture and terms
- Architectural process
- Basic components and use cases (Exercise: create use case realization, high-level components)
- 4+1
- Highlevel class diagram within components and subcomponents, based on loose coupling or high cohesion (Exercise)
- Some detailed use case diagrams (Exercise)
Day 2
- Package/Layer diagram (Exercise)
- Sequence diagrams (Exercise)
- Interface definitions (Exercise)
- Documenting in a SAD
